1851 Navy Cases and accessories are getting extremely difficult to find in decent condition. This is a particularly nice casing for a small guard Colt Navy. As you can see in the photo, the upper right partition that lays across the top-strap had some damage to one end as about 1/8th of an inch was removed or damaged in some way and then glued back into the box, although it is somewhat loose. I'm not going to touch it. The left lower side piece is also loose and should be addressed. The rest of the box is very fine and shows the extra compartment behind or left of the flask compartment, an early characteristic that was not generally long-lasting and probably configured for Colt Navy cartridge packs. A large guard Colt 1851 Navy Revolver doesn't fit this original Colt casing. Beautiful exterior finish with a single stain on the lid that could probably be rubbed out and the interior is also excellent save for the afore-mentioned partition in the upper right corner. A great box at a very reasonable price.
