4113 - SPENCER CARBINE, MODEL 1860.
This is one of the better Spencer Carbines that you'll find anywhere today. It is super sharp and crisp to include all of its edges, action and markings. There is actually a good amount (maybe 15%) of original blue scattered across the barrel of this gun covered with a micro-frosting of very thin cleanable brown peach-fuzz, especially in protected areas (around the sights, edges, etc,). It shows a trace of vivid case-colr on the frame the the balance silvering out with a similar thin patina coating. the breach-block shows a ton of case. The wood is very fine with visable cartouche and some scattered scarring to the butt that could probably be addressed. this is a really great Spencer.

3425 - COLT REVOLVING RIFLE USED DURING THE CIVIL WAR PERIOD.
This is a very fine condition gun in the 2,XXX range, of 56 caliber 5-shot cylinder. Many of these rifles in this range were issued to the 4th Michigan and 4th Missouri Cavalry units during the Civil War. It retains 90% blue on the barrel with traces on the frame and a crispy cylinder turned to a plumb-brown. The entire balance of the gun is in medium brown patina. The wood is excellent save for a missing sliver along the right front edge at the cleaning rod channel. The cleaning rod extension rarely found in the butt is absent. A really nice gun that is getting extremely difficult to find.

3409 - BURNSIDE CARBINE WITH SERIAL NUMBER "4" ON ALL PARTS.
This gun appears to be from the group of second model Burnsides that were altered in different ways and sent to the government for trials. It has characteristics of both 2nd and 3rd models and is in very good, crisp condition throughout showing traces of blue on the barrel and genrous amounts of fir-blue on the frame. The wood is very fine.

3396 - CIVIL WAR GREENE RIFLE.
As many of you know, this is the first, bolt-action, breech-loading rifle ever adopted by the United States Ordinance Department. Made in 1859 through the early 1860's by the A. H. Waters Armory in Massachusetts, it was designed by Lt. Col. J. Durrell Greene. The gun offered here is in nearly flat mint, unfired condition. A perfect candidate to add to a museum quality collection.

3339 - CIVIL WAR SPENCER RIFLE IN DESIRABLE SERIAL NUMBER RANGE.
This old veteran was used hard and put up wet. It is in the early 5000 serial number range and was most likely issued to a member of the famed Wilder's Brigade, the specialty shock troops that we hear about on the history channel and that untold volumes of information is avalable on in both books and on the internet. Wilder's Brigade inflicted severe damage to Confederate troops throughout their service during the Civil War. This rifle shows heavy saddle wear, weathering, carry and use. The stock shows a varnish that was probably put on to preserve it by a family member. If you want a historical artifact from the Civil War that doesn't cost an arm or a leg, this could be your ticket. If you hurry to a phone.

3320 - CONFEDERATE S. C. ROBINSON RICHMOND CARBINE.
This rare Confederate longarm is one of the most popular Confederate Carbines. These were primarily issued to Cavalry Troopers of Jeb Stuart's Army of Northern Virginia Cavalry Regiments. This one is super sharp and crisp to include all action, edges and markings. The wood is nice and full and the barrel retains strong rifling. The serial number is in the 19XX range making it an early second model and the only other markings are the Richmond, Va. barrel address, standard for the second series of guns after the Confederate Government took over Robinson's factory operations. these guns saw heavy use and are seldom found in this condition. If you are looking for one great carbine to throw on the Confederate side of your gun room, this would be a perfect example.

3263 - ANTIQUE RIFLE - HENRY RIFLE IN THE EARLY CIVIL WAR SERIAL RANGE.
This is an absolutely untouched Henry right out of a farmhouse in Burton, Ohio and it is very pretty. It had been in the same family since the late 1800's and probably earlier. This gun only has a few minor handling marks to its perch-bellied stock which retains all of its original finish. The frame is a deep and dark, nut-brown patina that shows minor nicks and some staining, probably due to powder residue that was never cleaned off. Its edges are still sharp. The barrel retains about 25% original blue mixing with deep, rich, plum-brown patina and the edges are sharp. Over-all, the gun is sharp and crisp to include all markings and the action. This gun has never been on the market before and is an early, perch-bellied gun in the 10XX range. It is untouched, never cleaned or enhanced in any way, shape or form. Straight out of a 3rd floor closet of an old farmhouse and in very, very fine condition.

S3261 - CIVIL WAR RIFLE - HISTORICALLY INSCRIBED AND PRESENTED SPRINGFIELD RIFLE.
Every so often, I find something particularly cool. This is one of those items, but I really don't know exactly its significance yet. This is a Model 1855 Springfield Rifle-musket dated 1859. The gun has been specially embellished with German-silver inlays about the fore-end and the lock, hammer and barrel are silver plated which is now turned blue! There is a huge, wonderfull coin-silver inlay inlayed into each side of the stock. One plaque is inscribed, "Prize Musket of the Jo Brown Guard, Reorganized May 1, 1872". The other is inscribed, "Presented to the Jo Brown Guards by Capt. Frank N. Hotchkiss". The date and presentation obviously refer to the Jo Brown Guard of Georgia that saw much service for the Confederacy during the Civil War. It was indeed re-organized in 1872 but there must be some more info out there somewhere concerning this rifle. I'd love to hear from anyone that may be able to shed some light on its presentation. If anyone wants to buy it in the meantime just give me a call. It's for sale at a reasonable price and I hope the undiscovered history of its presentation doubles its value for the buyer. I just need to move it.

3221 - CIVIL WAR CARBINE - CIVIL WAR STARR PERCUSSION CARBINE, MARTIALLY MARKED.
This is an out-of-the-attic Starr that is very solid and crisp. Markings and action really sharp. Wood has had some cleaning and I can't see a cartouche but the gun is sub-inspected. In the 20XXX range. Upper tang has been cleaned and looks perfect and in a light gray. The rest of the gun would also clean to very fine. Traces of blue on the barrel and traces of case-colors on the breech-block. The bore is filthy and crusty looking but would probably clean up.

1208 - CIVIL WAR RIFLE MUSKET. COLT 1861 SPECIAL MUSKET DATED 1862 WITH NEW JERSEY SURCHARGE.
This is a very fine example of the Colt Civil War rifled musket. Many of these guns found in fine condition are bought by collectors and then cleaned to reveal a real gem. This gun (with excellent wood) is just such an example that had a cleaning process begun, but never completed. The barrel and lock are in very fine, cleaned condition. It actually shows a little patina to the cleaned parts and one wouldn't know that it had ever undergone the process. The mounts however, show some sanding marks that needed to be reduced and then polished. The result will be a very fine condition gun that would approach $2,500.00 in value. If you are a handy person that likes to take on such projects, this is a steal. bands are inspected and the stock shows a bold, proper "NJ" opposite the lock. It was certainly issued to New Jersey troops during the Civil War.

1191 - CONFEDERATE CIVIL WAR SABRE BAYONET BY BOYLE & GAMBLE.
This is an out-of-the-woods find that came to us last week. It is as honest as the day is long. Beautiful, deep, rich patina with traces of verdigris. Untouched, with Roman Numeral VI stamped at the spring base. Lock-pin and spring are missing. The blade is average showing use and age but no severe pitting or loss to the metal. I have seen several similar examples at well over $2,000.

1143 - ORIGINAL ANTIQUE CONFEDERATE RICHMOND MUSKET.
This gun is in the black, out-of-the-woods and it certainly looks that way. This is actually a pretty good gun that needs some TLC. If cleaned gently and properly to get rid of the dusty surface rust and grime without removing the patina, one might reveal about a $5,500 - 6,000.00 gun. She's dated 1864 and has sold wood, very good markings and good action. It lacks a cleaning rod.

1132 - 1851 SHARPS CARBINE.
I won't tout this gun for its condition (which is actually above average for this model). I'll just say that it is a really smooth and unabused example of an 1851 Sharps carbine and they are very difficult to find in this condition. It has a few problems such as a missing sling-bar and a hole that was bored through its stock near the butt-plate. The hole was probably put there early on, as the earlier sling-bars were a bit frail and the hole sufficed as a location for a lanyard. It is plugged with putty or other filler and could be properly repaired by a gun wood restorer. Other than these two problems, this is at very least a very presentable example of a rare gun that someone might use to plug a hole in their Sharps Collection.

1129 - CIVIL WAR SNIPERS RIFLE. FAMOUS "BERDAN SHARPS" WITH DOUBLE-SET TRIGGERS.
This is one of possibly the most famous and sought-after longarms used during the Civil War. Hiram Berdan, for who the rifle is named, used his recognition and influence to persuade the Federal government to allow him to establish a regiment of Sharpshooters and specialized marksmen to act as "shock troops" similar to today's "special forces" such as the "Green Berets" and "Navy Seals". In June of 1861 the government agreed to Berdan’s request and the call went out for recruits, picking only those men that were of maximum soldierly qualities and especially expert marksmen. The rest is history, as the Berdan Sharpshooters went on to everlasting fame for their successful use of these fine rifles at Gettysburg and elsewhere. The double-set hair triggers, ease of loading and sturdy construction of these famed sniper rifles were instrumental in helping turn the tide of several battles while in the hands of the famed Regiments that were lucky enough to be equipped with them. This example is in fine condition for its extended use and shows all proper sub-inspector marks and cartouche. It is a super piece of Civil War history and a "MUST" for any serious Civil War collector that aspires to own the most historic and popular Civil War Arms. I have had this model in similar condition sell for 12 - 14k. We got this in trade towards our fine Hawken Rifle that sold last month, so the price is more reasonable than normal.

A really super condition Morse carbine with beautiful, untouched patina to the brass, smooth iron parts and about the finest Tiger-striped maple stock I've seen on one of these popular Confederate Carbines. This easy breech-loader was as popular with Confederate troops as it is today with collectors.

1118 - CIVIL WAR CAVALRY CARBINE, BELGIAN MADE AND DATED 1862. CONFEDERATE CARBINE.
This is an untouched, out-of-the-woods, Belgian-made, muzzle-loading Enfield type Carbine similar to those imported and used by Confederate and Union troops. Dated 1862 on the lock, it is really nice and quite possibly imported for the war effort. I don't know what the stampings are on the butt-plate but they certainly appear to be Militia or Regimental markings.

1079 - ANTIQUE HENRY RIFLE IN THE 9,000 SERIAL RANGE.
This is a very nice Henry and priced to sell. I doubt you'll find a better one cheaper. Starting from the front, the barrel is a smooth plum-brown patina with the slightest traces of actual blue in the magazine flutes and protected areas. I mean baby-butt smooth and untouched, a near perfect patina. The frame and butt-plate have a wonderful patina and show minimal dings and dents that one would expect from a gun that was used. The wood is beautiful and untouched, perfect fit and pronounced Henry "Bump". Action edges and markings are extremely fine. The brass follower and lever screw are old replacements, possibly of the period. This is a very good to fine condition Henry that other dealers would ask $30,000 or more for. We bought this in a group of items and have priced it with a reasonable mark-up as a group, not to try and squeeze the last dime out of each individual piece. You can find examples of that on other websites all over the net where the items never sell. I guess we're rebels, but, it works for us!

1024 - CIVIL WAR HENRY RIFLE WITH SHOULDER STRAP.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to invest in a better quality camera as I was unable to take a photo that could show exactly how nice this Henry is. It retains 50 - 60% untouched factory blue mixing with a deep, rich patina on the barrel. You can see the blue in the magazine channel, but blue is also scattered all about the remaining barrel flats as well. The edges and markings on the barrel are excellent as is the wood with pronounced Henry "Bump". This gun had been stored for years in the office of a machine shop and the frame had thick areas of dried out grease mixed with metal fines when I found it. I gently de-greased this to avoid scratching of the brass to reveal a fine, mustard colored patina. It does have a few scratches where someone attempted to remove the side-plates during its period of use, but not to detract from its excellent look. This is an outstanding Henry in the 8,000 serial range that is consecutive to a recorded martial and would probably fetch $50,000.00 or more at auction plus a buyers premium on top of that! This gun is available at a much more reasonable price right now. It's the best we've had in some time.

S1017 - HENRY RIFLE, FACTORY ENGRAVED.
In my experience, there is no other antique that continues to increase in value at consistently higher levels than the Henry Rifle. I have always struggled with the rapid price increases of these guns and seldom purchase one for re-sale, as I've often thought there must be a point where they will hit their peak in popularity and I might somehow be left holding-the-bag on several expensive rifles with no one to sell them to. The Henry Rifle continues to prove me wrong. (As it has been doing for over 25 years). Among both Civil War and Antique Arms collectors, the Henry seems to offer an endless promise of appreciation in popularity and value to those lucky few who own one. This one is factory engraved by Hogson and has many fine features. The barrel is extremely sharp and crisp in terms of its edges and markings and is in a light brown to dark grey patina. The white background in the photos make the steel barrel appear lighter in color than it actually is. The frame is gorgeous, showing generous amounts of original silver plating mixing with a beautifully untouched nutty brass patina. The engraving is of standard Hogson type. The wood on this gun has been heavily weathered and needs some TCL of some cleaning of old grease and grime and then maybe some hand-rubbing with oil to bring back the finish to the deluxe burl walnut stock. As the wood shows honest wear and is quite acceptable, I will leave any wood care up to the buyer. All-in-all, this is a very fine gun and priced way below what one may expect to pay at auction or a gun show.
