254 - CIVIL WAR REVOLVER - NEAR MINT COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER.
Now here's a nice looking Navy. Almost flat new and in the 12X,XXX range. Manufactured right in the middle of the Civil War. I don't know how it survived in this condition, but it did and its exciting to just look at. It's unfired and save for a few areas of flaking to brown, its almost new. Anybody have any nice ID'd swords to trade?

204 - CIVIL WAR PRESENTATION COLT NAVY REVOLVERS - SPECTACULAR PAIR OF COLT NAVY REVOLVERS PRESENTED TO BRIG. GENERAL DAVID HENRY WILLIAMS ON OCTOBER 23RD, 1861 AND CARRIED BY HIM DURING THE CIVIL WAR.
A true pair of Navy Revolvers serial numbered 32 digits apart. Both guns are inscribed "To Col. D. H. Williams, by his Phila. Friends. Oct. 22nd, 1861", and are mentioned in an article of the Philadelphia Inquirer on October 29th as being presented the day after their inscription to Colonel Williams during a ceremony and presentation of Regimental colors and grand review on oct. 24TH, 1861. While presenting the arms to Col. Williams on that very day, presenter Col. White remarked in his speech, "These weapons, unlike some newly elected officers, are to be used, not to be looked at; unlike the glorious Stars and Stripes. Traitors have taken the field, and every true patriot should be doubly armed"!!!!! The 82nd went on to 1st Bull Run, Siege of Yorktown, Williamsburg, Bottom's Bridge, Fair Oaks / Seven Pines, Savage Station, White Oak Swamp, Malvern Hill, Chantilly, Antietam, and Fredericksburg. Colonel Williams was nominated for Brigadier General on November 29, 1862. His term of service expired in February of 1863. The 82nd went on to battle in most of the major tests of the war, losing 5 officers and 106 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded. The pair of Colts are in very fine condition showing great care in their handling with sharp edges, markings, action and grips, with generous amounts of original Military style finish. An outstanding historical pair of Navies carried and used by a commanding officer. A 1 1/2 inch folder with Williams' muster sheets and service accompany this pair of revolvers.

213 - COLT PRESENTATION REVOLVERS - ULTRA-RARE PAIR OF CIVILIAN COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY REVOLVERS INSCRIBED ON THE BACKSTRAP, "Maj. Gen. N. P. Banks with Compliments of Col. Colt". POSSIBLY A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY TO SECURE A MUSEUM QUALITY PAIR OF PISTOLS PRESENTED TO A CIVIL WAR MAJOR GENERAL AND DONE SO BY NONE-OTHER THAN SAMUEL COLT HIMSELF.
The best part about this set is that they didn't sit in a desk or in a bureau drawer during the war. THESE GUNS WERE CARRIED!! Banks was the ultra politician of his age, rising from a cotton-mill worker as a boy to Governor of Massachusets. He was a Corp commander in the Shenandoah battling none other than Stonewall Jackson on several occassions in 1862. Hit the net for more information on Banks.

152 - CONFEDERATE, CIVIL WAR LeMAT REVOLVER - IDENTIFIED EARLY LeMAT REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL ARSENAL HOLSTER, IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION.
One of our great finds of last year, we have decided to sell this great item as we can't keep them all. The gun (in the 13XX range) is in near excellent condition, retaining over 50% original bluing about the frame, barrel and cylinder. The checkered grips are excellent. The original arsenal holster which this gun has been in for over 150 years is also outstanding, and its aged shape and form attest that it has been home to this massive grapeshot revolver for the duration. A notarized letter from the person that bought this rig from the decendants of George W. Mercer, late of Company H, 55th Virginia Infantry attests to its origin. The gun and holster are mentioned in the addendum to the latest book on LeMats by Doug Adams. Confederate history at its best.

182 - CONFEDERATE USED COLT REVOLVER - REALLY COOL AND HISTORIC, CONFEDERATE COLT 1851 NAVY WITH GREAT CIVIL WAR HISTORY.
This is an iron-strapped, US marked frame '51 Navy in the 90XXX range. There are no sub-inspection marks or USN stampings on the butt and it doesn't appear that there ever were. There is a wonderfull plaque on the right grip that reads,"Captured by Capt. Robert Burns 4th Michigan Cavalry from a Rebel Officer at Shelbyville, Tenn. June 27, 1863". It is absolutely authentic and was inscribed close to the period of captured. Burns progressed from a Lt. to Lt. Colonel from '62 - '65. He also played an important role in capturing Jefferson Davis with the 4th. This gun comes with several pages of historic information on Burns as well as 30 or so transcribed letters written home that include one that speaks of a captured revolver. Great Stuff !

142 - CONFEDERATE CIVIL WAR REVOLVER - CONFEDERATE INSCRIBED, IDENTIFIED AND CAPTURED COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER WITH FACTORY IVORY GRIPS AND THE MOST SOLID CONFEDERATE DOCUMENTATION I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THE CONFEDERATE SOLDIER THAT CAPTURED THIS GUN IS PICTURED IN SEVERAL PERIOD PHOTOS,,,,, WITH THIS VERY GUN IN HIS HOLSTER !!!!!! GUARANTEED !!!!!
There was a quote that Paul Newman used in the movie "Cool Hand Luke" that I said to myself when I first laid eyes on this item, "HOLY CRAP"! The quote was then repeated by well-known dealer Damon Mills and a host of my customers at the last Baltimore Show of a few months ago as we huddled to inspect this item over and over throughout the weekend, one of the coolest Civil War discoveries of our time. The gun and holster are described AND PICTURED in several articles in "Confederate Veterans Magazine" as well as other newspapers describing the man who wears it, the inscription upon it, and the history behind it. The set comes with copies of several of these period newspaper and magazine articles and photos about the man and this weapon, as well as an ORIGINAL FRAMED PHOTO THAT LEAVES NO DOUBT AS TO ITS ORIGINALITY. NOTE; DUE TO THIS WEBSITES CONFIGURATION, I HAVE POSTED A FEW OF THE PHOTOS DIRECTLY BELOW.

Slightest traces of case colors on the frame are visable. The grips show 85%+ original varnish. Lots of silver on the triggerguard. fr-1 - OUTSTANDING, EXTREMELY RARE PAIR OF REVOLVERS (ONE BEING PRESENTED BY SAMUEL COLT!) BELONGING TO JOHN B. FLOYD, FORMER U.S. REPRESENTATIVE, GOVERNOR OF VIRGINA, SECRETARY OF WAR UNDER BUCHANAN, AND CONFEDERATE GENERAL.
I don't have enough room here to described these guns properly, but I'll try. In 1858, Colt sent Floyd (then Secretary of War) a suite of arms by personal representatives of the Colt Factory. Besides this deluxe presentation Root, Colt sent; A cased Revolving Rifle, a cased Shoulder- stocked Dragoon Revolver, a cased 1851 Navy Revolver, a cased Colt Pocket Revolver and presumably, a cased Root Revolver. All of these arms were engraved and finished in the finest fashion to display the quality of, and differences in models that Colt manufactured at the time. All were engraved in the highest quality by Gustav Young, all were of special high polish finish, all were in deluxe casings with beautifull accessories. Each of the guns had a special presentation on the backstrap, reading, "Presented to Hon. J.B. Floyd from Col. Colt's Workmen". All of the guns have been accounted for by collectors over the past century, and most have been pictured prominently in the very best books on Firearms. All but one. The Colt Root Revolver pictured here. These guns were found and purchased from the family of Sally Ann Brock Putnam, a close family friend of the Floyd family, and author of "Richmond During the War" by well-known Confederate collector, Bill Turner. According to the family at the time of purchase, these two guns were given to the Putnam family for protection by Floyd as he made his way back to Richmond after the surrender of Fort Donnelson in Kentucky. They had remained in the family since the Civil War. It is thought by several well-known collectors that the '62 Police Revolver was Floyd's carry-gun at the time. I have much more information on these arms. If you have an interest, call for more. 216-541-4111.

env-1 - UNTOUCHED AND RARE GUSTAV YOUNG ENGRAVED 1851 NAVY REVOLVER WITH FACTORY IVORIES AND IRON STRAPS.
This rare fellow has come back to visit after selling off this website last year. I just took it back in trade. It is in a super-rare configuration being factory engraved and the only iron-strapped Navy that I have ever seen with factory ivories. The gun is generally sharp with generous traces of color in protected areas and mixed with a dark, untouched brown patina. It has a nice scene and the grips are 100% original with an age crack to the left side. This gun had several inquiries last time, and now it is a tiny bit cheaper due to the trade. If you're the type of collector that appreciates an untouched engraved gun vs. a greyed-out overcleaned one, give me a call.

1dr-1 - OUTSTANDING, MARTIALLY MARKED COLT 1ST MODEL DRAGOON.
This is a true rarity. A Colt 1st Model that is not just sharp and crisp, but it absolutely has the best cylinder scene I have ever seen on just about ANY model dragoon. The gun has seen little use and is fully sub-inspected. The grips show a faint cartouche on the left side and just traces on the right. From the feel of the grips and their fine condition, I'd say that they were thinned on purpose to accomodate the hand that used it. All edges markings and action are nearly crisp as new. The scene is so outstanding, you can see hordes of soldiers and Indians in the backround down to the finest detail. A fine condition 1st Model with less than half of its finish recently sold at auction in the $80,000.00 range. For the price, I like this big gun much better. It is stunning.

pt1 - VERY FINE CONDITION PETTINGIL REVOLVER, MARTIALLY MARKED.
This Pettingil is in exceptional condition, and the finest I have had the opportunity to come across. Although it shows little or no finish, it also shows little to no use and is sharp as a tack. It is in a perfectly untouched, attic mint patina with an excellent cartouche on the left grip. It would be very difficult to find a better one. It is also among the only known group of Pettingills that have identified use. Every gun with definatively known issue falls in the serial range 3244 - 4144, and this gun falls within that range. Every gun in that range that has been identified was issued to Company "M" of the 1st Arkansas Cavalry in 1863 and re-issued to the same unit in 1865. This gun was most certainly issued to the that unit.

fr_1 - BEAUTIFULL .44 CAL. AUSTIN T. FREEMAN ARMY SIZED REVOLVER.
This is a great Freeman that has suffered a little bit from poor storage. It shows minor corrosion on the left side of the frame in front of the cylinder, as well as an area to the right rear of the frame near the grips. Other than these two areas, the gun retains 95% original bright blue and is very presentable. The gun is virtually unused.

rm-1 - GOOD CONDITION COLT 1851 NAVY INSCRIBED TO MAJOR BERNARD ROEMER, A CSA OFFICER WHO COMMANDED "ROEMERS ARTILLERY" IN WISE'S LEGION OF VIRGINIA.
Bernard Roemer was a personal friend of former Governor and then General Henry Wise and served with him in the early campaigns of the war in the valleys of Virginia. He went on in 1863 to become a surgeon, serving in hospitals throughout the state and is noted in United States Medical records as having operated on many of the Confederate wounded from Gettysburg, most notably for performing documented successfull brain surgeries on the most seriously injured. Roemers' records and history of his units are with this Colt.

bt2 - CONFEDERATE ISSUE ENGLISH WEBLEY REVOLVER
At first glance, many Confederate purists may shout down any claim that this is a Confederate weapon, but I tend to put more stock into bonafide documentation than most. Nearly the entire production of Kerr Revolvers are getting credit for being Confederate, based on either Pratt's Squad Roll of Kerr's being issued to his Company "H" of the 18th Virginia Cavalry, or the fact that many documented specimens are marked with a "JS and anchor" on the grips. There is absolutely no proof that JS and anchor marked guns were all used by the Confederacy, but the Pratt list leaves no doubt that many Kerr's in the documented range are DEFINATELY CONFEDERATE. Well, this very good and sound condition Webley falls right in between two other Webleys by serial number ON PRATT'S SQUAD LIST, and in addition, is marked on the top strap "Bentley" as are the two on the list. It has the look, smell, taste, and feel of Confederate, and falls within a documented range unlike most of the Kerrs. It's a great gun supported by facts, not rumor and hope.
