3145 - MODEL 1865 SPENCER CARBINE, 50 caliber.
This is an extremely fine '65 with 6-groove rifling in the 11XXX range. It shows almost all of its case-colors (prox. 80% and just starting to fade) and blue (95% and untouched) with some minor patches of raised corrosion that should be easily cleaned. Wood is excellent with near perfect cartouches.

3138 - KENTUCKY RIFLE OF MOST LIKELY OHIO ORIGIN.
This is a great looking rifle in original percussion. It has initials on top of the barrel that cannot be distinguished. Viewers seem to believe it the work of Jacob Albright who moved from Pa. to Ohio during his building years. The gun has 43 inlays scattered about the gun and I might ad, done quite tastefully. The three tulips on the cheek-piece side of the butt are not silver, but mother-of-pearl, an unusual and seldom seen feature on any Kentucky. The work is lovely. This is a very fine gun in total length of 56", 40" barrel and about 45 caliber. It has a hairline crack on one side of the wrist with a silver plate added on each side of the barrel tang for support. The work is quite tasteful and looks to be part of the original motif, but it is actually a bracing. It is rock-solid and doesn't detract from the gun at all. This gun will look outstanding above anyone's fireplace or a gun rack in the collection room.

3128 - FINE KENTUCKY PERCUSSION RIFLE.
This is an out-of-the-attic Kentucky with vary rare Masonic Motif inlays of German silver and brass. It shows the famous square and compass, a coffin, bending heart that could be symbolic of a harp as well as a few other "mystical" inlays. This gun is marked on the barrel, J.P. Howard. Joseph P. Howard worked as a gunsmith in Platform, Ohio and died in 1883. I would estimate that this is an 1840 - 1850's gun. The name of the owner is marked in front of the trigger-guard, John Fulton. He was obviously a Mason or Master Mason and obviously took pride in the fact. This, in the face of extreme anti-Mason sentiment across the country stemming from the disappearance of William Morgan in 1826. You'll have to read about this history on the net as I don't have the time nor expertise to discuss it here. In any case this rifle still retains all the dirt and dust of a rifle that was just pulled off a wall. It measures 56.5" overall with a 41" barrel of 38 caliber. I love the square and compass motif which ascribes to the life of a Mason as well as the performance of his weapon, "Straight and True".

2095 - FINE, ANTIQUE, FLINTLOCK, KENTUCKY RIFLE BY GIDEON ANGSTADT.
This is a very fine condition, untouched gun from a famous gun-making family. Gideon worked in Lewisburg, Pa. and this rifle appears to be his work. The gun is 52-1/4" overall with a 42-1/2" barrel. It's roughly 60 caliber smooth-bore and other than a re-conversion of its "Bird" lock, it appears to be untouched with no repairs. This is a fine, big, beautiful gun.

2086 - UNIQUE, EARLY FIRST-MODEL 1873 WINCHESTER RIFLE WITH THUMB-PIECE DUST COVER WITH OUTRAGIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL WOOD, MOTHER-OF-PEARL, BRASS AND COPPER INLAYS.
I don't know who did the embellishment on this gun, but it is awesome and of the period. I believe this to have been made as a presentation gift to an American Indian or possibly to a member of a Wild West Show. I have never, in 30 years of collecting seen anything quite like it and I guarantee that the work is period. The work is virtually perfect and done "back in-the-day". The gun is crisp as new with a perfect mirror bore and shows little use. The blue has somehow been removed without the slightest hint of sanding or polishing but shows blue on the interior so it didn't leave the factory in the bright. Someone fashioned the gun for it to appear as it does, bright, colorful and beautiful. Really an unusual Winchester that someone was very proud to carry.

2075 - CLASSIC, ALL ORIGINAL, FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE OF THE GOLDEN AGE.
This is nothing short of a classic, special feature "Golden Age" Kentucky Rifle in original flint. It has a beautiful engraved and formed patch-box, silver mounts and silver key escutcheons. The cheek-piece is beautifully engraved with incised carving. Wonderful tiger-striped maple stock. There is an old Fladerman's add in the patch-box describing the gun when it was priced at $7,800.00 almost 20 years ago. This is a beautiful Kentucky with amazing documentation on the maker Jacob Merckle who served in the Revolutionary War as did his father, both of whom were Kentucky Rifle makers. Merckle died in 1821 placing this gun smack in the middle of the "Golden Age" era.

1225 - SHARP PISTOL RIFLE IN FACTORY .38 RIMFIRE.
This little rifle is about as rare as it gets and is the only one we have ever come across. I have seen one conversion, sold at auction a year or so ago that was touted as a factory conversion. It looked like it had been manufactured in a basement using parts from a 12-year olds erector set from the 1950's. This gun is absolutely original and I would assume, the only one known. The gun is overall excellent condition save for a broken hammer spur and a crack to the upper tang. If you are a serious Sharps Collector, give me a call to discuss this rare bird.

1169 - OUTSTANDING, INVESTMENT QUALITY, 1859 SHARPS CIVIL WAR MILITARY ISSUE CARBINE.
This gun is much more beautifull in person than as photographed. It is for the collector that wants a top-notch Sharps. It retains 99% original barrel blue and 70% case-colors, some quite vivid. The wood is excellent with cartouches, bore near mint. I have only seen a handfull of better examples. This is the most popular of all Civil War Cavalry weapons and is seldom found in this high-grade condition.

1132 - ANTIQUE CIVIL WAR CARBINE. RARE, SHARPS MODEL OF 1851 CARBINE.
I won't tout this gun for its condition (which is actually above average for this model). I'll just say that it is a really smooth and unabused example of an 1851 Sharps carbine and they are very difficult to find in this condition. It has a few problems such as a missing sling-bar and a hole that was bored through its stock near the butt-plate. The hole was probably put there early on, as the earlier sling-bars were a bit frail and the hole sufficed as a location for a lanyard. It is plugged with putty or other filler and could be properly repaired by a gun wood restorer. Other than these two problems, this is at very least a very presentable example of a rare gun that someone might use to plug a hole in their Sharps Collection.

1126 - CONFEDERATE CIVIL WAR CARBINE. MORSE CARBINE MANUFACTURED FOR SOUTH CAROLINA & THE CONFEDERACY.
A really super condition Morse carbine with beautiful, untouched patina to the brass, smooth iron parts and about the finest Tiger-striped maple stock I've seen on one of these popular Confederate Carbines. 1108 - CLASSIC, ROMAN NOSE FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE BY ADAM ANGSTADT.
This is a fine rifle by Angstadt with beautiful carving about the wrist and in front and back of the cheekpiece. Delicate c-scroll engraving adorns the un-pierced patchbox. The original lock has been re-converted to flint. The wood is a gorgeous tiger-striped maple. The last 10 inches of the fore-end have a v-shaped repair that is virtually imperceptible to the naked eye except upon inspection from the inside, under the barrel. This work was obviously done by a master restoration artist. It is virtually "a perfect repair". The gun is prox. 58" overall and shows classically the form of a Roman-nosed stock that is most desirable in a fine "Golden Age" Kentucky Rifle. See additional photos below !

1103 - ANTIQUE 1ST MODEL 1873 WINCHESTER SADDLE-RING CARBINE WITH THUMBPRINT DUST COVER.
This is a beautiful, untouched carbine that came to us with a group of several other guns. If you can't afford a mint one in the $30,000.00 range, this might be worth a look-see. It is the type of gun that we collectors hope to find, but seldom do. It is just s-o-o-o untouched. It has excellent condition metal and wood and just shows minimal carry and lots of toned original finish. I have taken close-ups of the frame with both light and dark backgrounds so you can get a feel of its true appearance. In some light it looks like 70% blue and in other light, 20%. The color is actually a blend of bright blue, toning plumb blue, and plumb brown. It is all blending evenly on both side, top and bottom. The barrel and tube are quite similar in appearance to the frame. When I inspect guns with this type of finish, they always have nicks and dings and dents from use over the years. This gun doesn't have the usual carry marks. Hard to believe that a Winchester can survive like this but the proof is in your hands when you're holding it. I am selling this gun on consignment for the owner who wants someone to enjoy it. He doesn't want it overpriced but wants a fair return on his investment as it goes on down the road. We will determine the sale price together in the next few days.

1079 - ANTIQUE HENRY RIFLE IN THE 9,000 SERIAL RANGE.
This is a very nice Henry and priced to sell. I doubt you'll find a better one cheaper. Starting from the front, the barrel is a smooth plum-brown patina with the slightest traces of actual blue in the magazine flutes and protected areas. I mean baby-butt smooth and untouched, a near perfect patina. The frame and butt-plate have a wonderful patina and show minimal dings and dents that one would expect from a gun that was used. The wood is beautiful and untouched, perfect fit and pronounced Henry "Bump". Action edges and markings are extremely fine. The brass follower and lever screw are old replacements, possibly of the period. This is a very good to fine condition Henry that other dealers would ask $30,000 or more for. We bought this in a group of items and have priced it with a reasonable mark-up as a group, not to try and squeeze the last dime out of each individual piece. You can find examples of that on other websites all over the net where the items never sell. I guess we're rebels, but, it works for us!

1024 - CIVIL WAR HENRY RIFLE WITH SHOULDER STRAP.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to invest in a better quality camera as I was unable to take a photo that could show exactly how nice this Henry is. It retains 50 - 60% untouched factory blue mixing with a deep, rich patina on the barrel. You can see the blue in the magazine channel, but blue is also scattered all about the remaining barrel flats as well. The edges and markings on the barrel are excellent as is the wood with pronounced Henry "Bump". This gun had been stored for years in the office of a machine shop and the frame had thick areas of dried out grease mixed with metal fines when I found it. I gently de-greased this to avoid scratching of the brass to reveal a fine, mustard colored patina. It does have a few scratches where someone attempted to remove the side-plates during its period of use, but not to detract from its excellent look. This is an outstanding Henry in the 8,000 serial range that is consecutive to a recorded martial and would probably fetch $50,000.00 or more at auction plus a buyers premium on top of that! This gun is available at a much more reasonable price right now. It's the best we've had in some time.

805 - WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 44-40 LEVER ACTION RIFLE.
This is a great old Winchester that went straight from the attic into a fine collection. We don't handle many as most of you know, but this was an easy decision when we aquired it. The barrel and tube retain 99% original blue and the frame 90% with some slight staining from age and not wear or abuse. The wood is excellent. 436 - FACTORY ENGRAVED WINCHESTER 1873 RIFLE WITH DELUXE FEATURES.
This is a great Winchester at a very reasonable price. You probably can't get into a gun like this any cheaper. It is accompanied by an original factory stock record from The Buffalo Bill Historical Center, which houses all the old Winchester ledgers. The letter is from 1978 and states that this gun, serial number 22XXXX is 44 caliber, octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock, pistol grip, gold-plated trims, $10.00 engraving (probably Ulrich), and under remarks is marked "bal-nic". This gun shows beautifull, near perfect, deluxe walnut stock, traces of silver to the barrel, loading gate, trigger and hammer, and a trace of gold over the silver on the loading gate. The frame was probably nickle but is now an untouched grey patina. The engraving is sharp and crisp and has a finely carved bear on the left side of the frame and a dogs head on the right. The engraving is still bold, as are the marking, edges and action. This gun was used, but not abused and is definitely a bargain for the buyer.
